Over the course of the last few years, we have fielded questions from golfers asking if we would ever make a “zero-torque” putter. We believed in its merit but we wanted to be very thoughtful when entering this segment. It’s quickly becoming crowded and the differentiation between offerings from various companies has become increasingly blurry. It was important for us to think past our first thought. 

As we developed and tested prototypes, a formula became evident. Toe hang in putters has primarily been thought of as a measurement from zero degrees (face balanced) to 90 (think of some of the Bullseye style putters from yesteryear.) The area between 0 and 90 degrees is densely populated with heel-shafted necks, short slant necks, flow necks, plumber’s necks, long necks and a collection of other curiosities. All golfers have a natural arc and face rotation that becomes very consistent when better matched to a specific putter.

So why are there so many options between 0 and 90 degrees of toe hang, but so few between 0 and -90? And could that unexplored space between 0 and -90 help golfers putt better?

With this in mind, we embarked on creating a series of zero-to-very low torque designs that begin to fill in the gap from 0 to -90. Presenting Formula – a series of three different putters – the center shafted, very-low torque Formula [CS], the even-lower torque Formula [45] and the zero-torque Formula [90].

Designed 45 degrees toe-up. This putter is shafted slightly rearward from center, with three lines to help you align properly. Like all Formula Series putters, [45] uses a multi-material construction, allowing us to move the center of gravity very forward to create unbelievable forgiveness. With the hosel moved rearward, this near zero torque design is a perfect match for a golfer who is intrigued by zero torque putters but wants to keep some of their natural arc. One of the most common bits of feedback from golfers who have tried zero torque is putts missed to the left. If that describes you, Formula [45] is an excellent choice.

If you have or desire to have a straight back, straight through stroke path, you’ll be best suited to our zero-torque Formula [90] model. This type of stroke path works best with very little face rotation and no natural arc. Formula [90], designed with -90 degrees of toe hang, stays very square to any path but really shines for a stroke like this. With over 6,000 MOI Formula [90] is also incredibly forgiving.
