A highly collectible early-generation Scotty Cameron with unmistakable Tour-inspired character.
The Studio Design No. 5 MB was first introduced on Tour in 2002 as the JAT 2 Mid Bend before becoming part of the retail Studio Design collection. Scotty described its distinctive shape as a “convertible mallet” because it combines the stability and rounded profile of a mallet with a more traditional, concave flange. The T-shaped alignment system runs across the topline and through the centre of the flange for a clean, confidence-inspiring setup.
A mid-bend shaft enters directly into the head and produces approximately ¼ toe hang, offering a release pattern similar to a Newport or Newport 2. This makes the No. 5 particularly well suited to golfers with a slight-to-moderate arc in their putting stroke.
Milled from soft carbon steel, the Studio Design series is known for its responsive feedback and distinctly softer impact sensation. This example presents in the model’s signature Black Pearl finish, displaying rich blue, purple and dark smoke tones that change beautifully under different lighting. Early carbon-steel Camerons remain particularly desirable among collectors for their feel, traditional milling and distinctive finishes.
The putter measures 35 inches and has been fitted with a new black Scotty Cameron Medium Matador grip, providing a comfortable, slightly larger profile while retaining excellent feedback through the hands.
